JAVEM.org
As Web Director for JAVEM, an academic journal focused on visual and environmental media, I led the complete design and development of the journal’s digital presence. This included building the website from the ground up, establishing an accessible and cohesive user experience tailored to both academic contributors and general readers.
I oversaw the end-to-end product lifecycle—from initial research and stakeholder interviews to wireframing, prototyping, front-end development, and long-term UX strategy. My focus was on creating an intuitive submission process for authors, clear editorial workflows, and an elegant, readable layout for published issues. I also introduced a flexible CMS to streamline content updates and implemented best practices in responsive design and web accessibility (WCAG).
Key contributions:
- Designed and developed the full-stack site architecture.
- Built a clean, minimal interface optimized for both academic rigor and visual storytelling.
- Developed scalable content templates for journal articles, editorial notes, and multimedia pieces.
- Implemented SEO, analytics, and performance optimization to support growth and discoverability.
- Created a visual identity system and UI style guide consistent with the journal’s ethos.
This project gave me the opportunity to shape a platform that bridges scholarly work and public engagement—grounded in thoughtful design and sustainable web practices.
